Learn how to adjust key settings in the TireBuddy App, whether you're just getting started or fine-tuning your inspections.
Accessing the Settings Menu
Preconfigured Settings via the QR Code
Once your QR code is scanned, your predefined settings are loaded instantly — no manual setup required. Everything is configured and ready to go out of the box. If you need to make changes, simply open the Settings Menu by tapping the gear icon.
The Settings Menu Explained
If your QR code contains preconfigured settings, they will be automatically applied and visible the first time you open the Settings Menu. The Settings Menu contains the following:
Configurable Settings
The Settings Menu is organized into multiple sections. These contain all the configurable options that you can modify at any time — even if they were initially set through your QR code.
Once you have selected your preferred settings, tap the Reset settings button to save your preferences.

Each tab below represents each of the different sections of the Settings Menu and includes a numbered explanation of each setting.

Customer Name
Toggle this setting to enable or disable entering the customer’s name. If enabled, the customer name will be included in your inspection report(s).
License Plate
Enables the use of the License Plate Scanner within the Vehicle Identification Tool in the TireBuddy App.tipYou can select the scanning region (US, Europe, Canada) in the Region section.
VIN
Activates the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) Scanner. You can choose to scan the VIN using OCR (Optical Character Recognition), or scan both the VIN and its barcode if present.Case Identifier (Barcode)
Allows you to scan or manually enter an additional identifier related to the vehicle—such as a customer ID, employee ID, tracking number, or any other reference. Use our Barcode Scanner for quick entry, or type it in if the identifier in not encoded in a barcode.
One-Shot Sidewall
Enables our One-Shot Tire Sidewall Scanner, which automatically captures all visible tire data in a single scan. This includes the tire’s DOT/TIN, size, make, and model. A helpful user guide overlay is included to assist with alignment and clarity during scanning, ensuring maximum data accuracy.DOT/TIN
Activates scanning or manual entry of the tire's Department of Transportation (DOT) or Tire Identification Number (TIN), which is used for traceability, regulatory compliance, and recalls. This setting can be used independently if you're only interested in identifying the tire’s serial and manufacturing details.Tire Size
Allows you to scan the tire size, which can include such specifications as the width, aspect ratio, and diameter of a tire. (e.g., 225/45R17). Useful when validating size-specific compatibility or replacing tires.Tire Make
Enables detection or input of the tire brand (e.g., Michelin, Continental). This is essential for brand-specific diagnostics, matching tire sets, or adhering to OEM requirements.Tire Model
Allows scanning or entry of the tire model (e.g., Pilot Sport 4, EcoContact 6). Capturing this data helps improve diagnostics, enhances wear pattern recognition, and supports accurate replacement tracking.Did You Know?
The DOT/TIN, Tire Size, Tire Make, and Tire Model can also be entered manually, giving you the option of both scanning and manual input.
Automatically Show Tire Tread Zonal Results
When enabled, this setting immediately displays the results of the tire tread scan after scanning, without having to manually navigate to the results of your scan. It highlights the different tread zones across the tire (typically inner, center, and outer zones), allowing for a quick and clear assessment of tread wear patterns.This setting is especially useful in fast-paced inspection environments where efficiency and clarity of results are important.
Select the Region Where Your Vehicles Will Be Inspected
Choose whether you’ll be scanning vehicles from the United States, Europe, or Canada. This ensures the correct regional scanning rules and formats are applied.tipYou can change this option at any time—either from the Settings Menu or directly during a scan via the user interface.
Select Your Desired Theme
Choose whether you want the TireBuddy App to use the Dark theme, the Bright theme, or automatically match your device’s current system theme.
